Monday Memo 9/18/17

Greetings!

I hope you had a lovely weekend.

Homework

Here is the link to the September Homework Calendar.  Please send it back in with your child on Friday, September 29.
Conferences

It was wonderful to see so many of you at Back to School Night, and I was glad so many people were able to sign up for a conference.  Here is the conference schedule as it stands now.  Please check it and make sure our calendars match.  If you were not able to sign up at Back to School Night, please take a look at the available times and email me with your preference.  Thank you.

Signature Pages Due:

Please read the Happy Hollow Handbook with your child and sign the page indicating you read it.  There is also a page for your child to sign.  Many people have already sent this in--thank you!  Please click here to go to the Happy Hollow home page.  Under "For Students", you can find "Student Handbook" for your child to read and sign.  Under "For Families", you can find the "Family Handbook" for you to read and sign.    I distributed these signature sheets at Back to School Night, and if you were unable to attend, I sent the papers home with your child on Friday.

Class Playdate

Thank you so much to our room parents Jen Rogers and Melissa Hartford for organizing the class playdate this weekend here at the HH playground.

PTO Breakfast

Thank you so much for the wonderful breakfast on Friday.  The PTO gave a beautiful welcome back breakfast for the teachers, and it was organized by our wonderful Debbie Bressler.  What a treat!

Back to School Family Cookout
Hope you can go to this fun event on Sunday!
Have a great week.  Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Monday, September 11, 2017

I hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

We have spent four special days together so far in our classroom, getting to know each other and all of our new routines.  This class is fantastic, and I am so enjoying building our classroom community together.

We are thrilled to welcome Drew Galizio to our classroom.  Drew is new to Happy Hollow School, and I know you join me in extending her a big Happy Hollow welcome.

Reminders:
  • Back to School Night is THURSDAY from 7:00-7:30PM in our classroom.  Please come to this special adults only event to learn more about your child's second grade experience.
  • I emailed you a short form regarding your child's daily dismissal plan.  Many people responded--thank you.  Please respond to this form ASAP.
  • You should have received a PURPLE biographical form from the office.  Please fill it out and return it as soon as possible.  Thank you to everyone who already returned it.
  • Please pack a snack and a reusable water bottle every day for your child.
Picture Day!

Bring smiles on Thursday!  Picture Day is Thursday!

5 Things in a Bag

This was due Friday, and most students brought it in.  If your child has not, please help them complete this assignment.  Click here for the directions.

Playground Playdate

Our fabulous room parents are putting together a Playground Playdate event for our classroom on Sunday from 2-3.  What a fun idea!  Please be on the look out for the email about this.

Have a great week!  Please always feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.

First Day! Hooray!

September 5, 2017

Greetings Families!

It was nice to meet some of you at the Library Meet-and-Greet in August and some of you last week for the new student open house. It was a pleasure getting to know your child today. I am thrilled to be your child’s second grade teacher. We had a super day together--second grade rocks!

The body of this email will appear on my blog, which you should bookmark on your computer. I sent this notice home on paper, as well as electronically.  If you did not receive this through your email, please email me because I must not have your correct address.

My email is: miriam_morrison@wayland.k12.ma.us. Please do not email me with dismissal changes, as I don't always receive the email in time. Dismissal changes should be communicated via a written note from you to me delivered by your child in the morning. Barring that, you must call the school office 508-358-8641, and they will be sure to get me the message.

My cell is 508-314-2796. Please feel free to call me with any questions a fter school hours. My phone is off during the school day.

I try to send you an email every Monday morning (or, if a Monday holiday, Tuesday morning). I read somewhere that people are more likely to read emails on Monday morning than other times in the week. Here are a couple of important items:

Special Schedule:

Monday: Technology with Ms. Crozier
Tuesday:
Music with Ms. Pohl and Skills Lab with Ms. Grace Wednesday: Physical Education with Mr. O'Connor Thursday: Library with Ms. Flannery
Friday:
Art with Ms. Soeltz

Remember those library books on Thursday and sneakers on Wednesday. Sneakers are the best shoes for your child to wear any day of the week. Outdoor play and recess are very important for a young child, and it is a shame when a child's footwear interferes with her ability to climb and run. Footwear such as flipflops can be a safety issue as well.

Snacks

Please pack a healthy snack each day. Please make sure your child has a reusable water bottle (labeled with their name) for classroom use. Water is the only beverage children may drink in the classroom, so please do not pack juice or milk for snack.

Important Dates:

  • ●  Curriculum Night is Thursday, September 14 from 7-7:30
  • ●  Picture Day is Thursday, September 14.

    Dismissal Plans:
I sent a Dismissal Form through your email. Please fill it out ASAP. Thank you. If you did not
receive it, be sure to send me your email. Happy Day One!
